One of my favourite NBA coaches is Doc Rivers, the current coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Before taking on his current role, he said,

“I don’t think you should run from a legacy, or run from pressure, or run from expectations. I think you should run towards it.”

It’s easy to hide.

It’s easy to play small.

And for a guy like Doc who coached the Celtics to an NBA title, it would be easy to just sit back and bask in past glories.

But that’s not us.

That’s not what we’re called to do.

We’re meant for greatness.

And that means running towards the challenges, the responsibilities and the potential for failure.

Because it’s there that our purpose is fulfilled.
