We need motivation.

It’s important to have relevant, compelling goals.

The emotion attached to them is powerful and gets us moving in the right direction.

But alas, motivation rarely lasts.

In those times, we need discipline.

We need the ability to take meaningful action, even when we don’t feel like it.

To make progress, rain, hail or shine.

To keep going, even when there are obstacles in our path that are slowing us down.

To maintain a positive attitude in the midst of negativity.

To relentlessly practice the boring fundamentals of our craft.

Because motivation lights the fire, but discipline keeps it burning.

Burn on, my friend, burn on.
