Teams aren’t responsible for maintaining a positive mindset during challenging times, leaders are.

Teams aren’t responsible for creating a culture of continuous improvement, leaders are.

Teams can’t set a vision and then consistently maintain focus on that vision, only leaders can do that.

There’s no such thing as a bad military unit.

Or church.

Or sporting team.

Or local government department.

It all rises and falls on leadership.

So if you’re in a position of leadership, you can’t blame your team for poor performance, you have to look inwardly.

You can’t blame your people for poor morale, you have to find ways to lift it.

You can’t even blame a lack of talent, as it’s your job to identify it, attract it and develop it to its maximum potential.

So, don’t mope around, wishing that you had a better team, become a better leader.

Everyone will be grateful if you do.
