If you stand on one side of a river and throw a stick into the water, it will be taken by the current.

Wherever the river takes it, is where it will go.

Maybe it will eventually make it to the other side, somewhere downstream.

Maybe it will float back to the same side.

Maybe it will make it out to sea.

The stick doesn’t decide, the river does.

You’re not a stick.

If you want to get to the other side of the river, you have to swim.

You have to make an effort.

You have to want it.

You can’t allow yourself to be swept up and taken by the river.

You’re not beholden to the whims of the current.

You must do it yourself.

And the good news is, you’re not a stick, you can do it!
