After years of working from home, I now have a long commute of about three hours per day into the city.

This week, there is some construction being done on the train line, which requires me (and my newfound travelling companions) to catch a bus from my normal station to another station, adding well over an hour to my daily migration.

Knowing that it was coming, I was dreading it.

I developed strategies to make sure that I still got to work on time.

And then yesterday, it happened.

And it wasn’t that bad.

Sure, it was a bit inconvenient, but it wasn’t the end of the world.

I read a lot on the train anyway, so I just used the extra time to do some extra reading.

How many times have you dreaded something only to realise that it wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be?

A dentist appointment, a visit from the mother-in-law, going to the gym.

We only have so much energy.

Don’t waste it dreading and worrying about the future.

Because in the end, it may not be as bad as you thought it would be.
