After graduating from the little known American University, basketball guard Andre Ingram went undrafted by the NBA, so he did what many other players do and plied his craft in the G League, hoping that he could continue to improve his skills and eventually make it to the big time.

That was 10 years ago!

10 years of dreaming.

10 years of praying.

10 years of hard work.

10 years of hustling on the side just to keep paying the bills.

10 years of believing that it was still possible.

With his salt and pepper hair, he looks more like an assistant coach than an NBA rookie, but this week, at the age of 32, Andre got a call up from the LA Lakers.  He made his NBA debut in stunning fashion, shooting the lights out and scoring 19 points in his first game for the Lakers, a feat only matched by NBA greats Magic Johnson, Jerry West and Nick Van Exel.

But it’s not the scoring that was impressive, but the fact that he was ready for the call after such a long time.

I don’t know what your dreams are.

I don’t know how long you have had to wait for them to be realised.

But please don’t give up.

Please don’t stop grinding.

Guys like Andre remind us that while your heart still beats, there’s still hope.
