If you stay the course.

If you smile while you sweat.

spending-too-much-timeGreat tennis players don’t get bogged down thinking about the last point.

And they don’t look too far ahead to the matches to come.

They understand that the next point matters most.

Phenomenal salespeople don’t linger on the last call that they made for too long.

And they don’t start calculating their monthly commission on the first week of the month.

the-capacity-to-instillIt’s time to start instilling hope again in the people around us.

To give others a reason to be optimistic about the future.

To help them replace their fear with courage, their negativity with a smile and their hopelessness with the understanding that through their actions, they can make a positive difference in the world.

To paint a picture of a better tomorrow if we work hard together.

dont-quitA good friend of mine shared this poem on Facebook recently.   It was given to Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger by his college coach and is called ‘”Don’t Quit.”

what-are-you-good-at-ifIf we were to compare our skills and talents, I can guarantee that there will be something that you can do better than me.

And if you were to stand in a room of 10-20 people, there would be something unique about your capabilities that stands out.

Conversely, there’s something that you’re not good at.

You may enjoy it, wish that you could do it or even tell people that you can, but you stink at it.

the-struggle-isIf you want to do anything meaningful with your life, there will be an inevitable struggle.

It will be hard work.

There will be obstacles.

Big obstacles.

You will feel like giving up.

the-stationary-conditionAuthor Henri Amiel once said,

“The stationary condition is the beginning of the end.”

It’s a wonderfully profound statement that describes far too many of us.

It describes the paradox of life that when we stop moving forward, we start going backwards.

It explains why so many people, especially men, struggle to cope with life after retirement.

you-may-not-reach-greatWe went on a family walk this week and as we wandered along, we saw a few massive trees that had fallen to the ground over the years.

These once magnificent gum trees, probably well over a hundred years old were now just lying there, rotting on the ground.

What a waste.

Or so it seemed.

These trees, may never recover their former glory, but they still had an important function to play in their eco-systems.

you-were-born-to-beTo be exceptional…

You can’t hide in the herd.

You can’t accept the status quo.

You can’t stay at the same level year after year.

You can’t expect to be an overnight success.
