We have more activities, less time, more interruptions, less focus.
I don’t know how you feel, but with a business, three kids, a new dog, this blog, church, volunteering, speaking and everything else on my plate, I feel as though I’m always doing something and never have the time (or inclination) to stop.
But the reality is that I need to slow down every now and then, for my sanity and my health, if for no other reason.
So this post is a message to me as much as anyone else.
Darren, don’t just do something, sit there!
Turn off your gadgets.
Be still.
Breathe.
Stop.
Imagine.
Contemplate.
Look at the stars.
Listen for the still small voice of God.
Restore your spirit.
Recharge your batteries.
Refresh your perspective.
And do it regularly.
And then, when you’re ready, get back up and attack your goals with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

I would suggest not relying on your degree, but keep learning, keep growing, keep working, keep networking and keep trying new things. Most of all, never give up.

I think it is somewhat ironic that in this modern age where we have so many “time saving” devices the majority of us seem to have less time to do the things we really need to do than did previous generations. That is so, at least in part because we place much higher expectations on ourselves. Thank you for the timely reminder to take some time to smell the roses.
