When you were born, you were given a name, not a number.
There’s a very good reason for that.
A name implies identity, meaning and purpose.
A number implies an inanimate cog in a very large wheel.
A name is unique.
A number is ubiquitous.
When someone calls your name, you turn your head in acknowledgement.
Numbers are only acknowledged at the line in the deli or the bingo hall.
We give people names.
We give robots numbers.
My question today is, are you living as if you have a name or a number?
Are you living with purpose, utilising your unique skills and abilities to carve out a positive reputation for yourself?
When people see your work, do they recognise your signature in the bottom corner that tells people who took the time and effort to create a masterpiece?
Or are you just doing what everyone else is doing?
Are you just another easily replaced employee number?
Would people even notice if you didn’t turn up?
You have a name.
And you have the unique combination of skills, experience and passion required to make a name for yourself.
Please don’t waste your life being just another cog in the wheel.

I really appreciate and fully endorsed to comments regarding recognising your name more than number.
I must add here that Name is just an identity of a person from which he is addressed but in todays materialistic world name is no longer have that value compare to numbers, the world has become so mean and materialistic that they judge you by the wealth, if you have good wealth they will be around you like honey bees no mattwr what name you have.
The name of the game is money not name.

Thanks for your comment Naseer. In many ways that is sadly true, but I am still more interested in a person’s identity than their bank account.
