Youre-not-trapped-TheIf you were to open the door of an aviary, the birds within would eventually find the opening and fly away.

If you were to leave a branch over the edge of a monkey’s enclosure, the inhabitants would quickly find it and manage to escape, never to be seen again.

Why is it then that there are so many people in jobs that they hate?

Why is it that we so often find ourselves in negative situations, but don’t do anything about it?

There are people who dread Mondays and can’t wait for the weekend.

They use words such as “trapped” to describe their circumstances.

But in reality, the door to their cubicle prison is wide open and they just need to make the choice to leave.

Quit, do a course, get your resume organised, apply, apply, apply for multiple jobs if you have to.

But please don’t describe your career (or life) situation as a trap when in reality you are in voluntary captivity.
