In the days after her passing, many of the funniest quotes from the great Joan Rivers have been circulating.  Sayings like, “I’ve had so much plastic surgery, when I die, they will donate my body to Tupperware” remind us of her brilliant wit.

But as with most successful people, there was another side to Joan.  This is what she had to say about one of the keys to her long-term success in a notoriously fickle business:

“I have become my own version of an optimist.  If I can’t make it through one door, I’ll go through another door or I’ll make a door.  Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present.”

What a great perspective and a fantastic reminder that no matter your situation, you can find a way to create your own opportunities if you have the right attitude.

Are you staring at a closed door at the moment?

Don’t stand there for too long, but either keep knocking, find a new door or make one for yourself.

Joan Rivers was a remarkable lady became famous for her legendary biting wit.

But if she didn’t have the optimism and resilience to keep persisting in the face of setbacks and obstacles, we may have never heard of her.
