If a lion is vegetarian, is he still a lion?
If he doesn’t use the long claws, razor sharp teeth, athletic ability and hunting skills that he’s been equipped with to catch and eat prey, is he really being all that he can be?
If he starts consuming grass instead of zebras, is he just another member of the herd?
What about you?
You’ve been equipped with certain unique talents and capabilities.
These skills, when used effectively, enable you to live with purpose and make a difference in the world.
These attributes are a part of what defines who you are.
So let me ask you, if you’re not using your skills and operating in your areas of strength are you being true to yourself?
Can you live your purpose if you’re trying to be something that you’re not?
I’ve never seen a well-fed vegetarian lion and I’ve never seen a successfully person who is not using their unique talents to their full potential.
So sharpen your claws and get hunting.

Sometimes we get affected by the people around us. They dictate what we should do, we should believe and we should fear that we come to the point we don’t know who we really are. A life coach discussed on his blog that our greatest investment should be on ourselves. We should not be afraid of making mistakes or failing. I love this quote from Grey’s Anatomy which says you didn’t win but it doesn’t mean you can’t roar.

I am so grappling with this issue right now. New department goals and direction have caused my job to be minimized to practical nothing. I am trying to help other ways but the new structure is not interested. I’m trying to challenge myself under the new standards but it’s just not enough.

Thanks Barbara, perhaps it’s time to look to utilise your skills elsewhere. You don’t have to feel trapped and unappreciated for too long.
