We’ve had a magnificent start to Spring here in Melbourne, with lovely warm, sunny days that are perfect for virtually any outdoor activity.

I went for a short stroll a couple of evenings ago, and was thinking that how people see the weather is one of the great differentiators between optimists and pessimists.

On a beautiful day, optimists enjoy every moment of the sunshine and, whilst pessimists look at the weather forecast and dread the coming change in conditions.

On a rainy day, pessimists complain about the weather, whilst optimists look at the weather forecast and smile in the knowledge that the clouds will go away eventually.

Life often mirrors the weather.

On some days, the sun is shining and everything seems to go well.

On those days, do you look over your shoulder in anticipation of the inevitable drama that is around the corner, robbing yourself of the joy of the moment?

Or do you bask in such happy moments, smiling, whistling and skipping through your daily tasks with gratitude?

Then there are times when life isn’t so rosy, times when you’re stressed, overwhelmed and feel as though you don’t know what to do next.

During those times, do you wallow in your pain, letting everyone around you know how terrible life is?

Or do you look to the future, to clear skies and better times and then take action that will help you get there?

What’s the weather like where you are?

How do you feel about that?
