This post is the 900th on this blog.
As I looked back over the past three and a half years of writing, I realised something.
899 of the posts were written in Melbourne and 1 was done in Sydney whilst with a previous employer.
It would be great to one day change that ratio.
I have a young family and a new business, so the opportunity to travel is limited and will be for a few years, but here is a list of 10 places I would love to write a blog post from one day:
- Oxford – I’ve often said to Karen that if I ever had to move from Melbourne, Oxford is my next choice of places to live. The county of Oxfordshire is home to more published authors per square mile than anywhere else in the English speaking world. It’s a beautiful, historic and inspiring city that was the home of two of my favourite writers (J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis) and I’m sure that another visit to the Eagle and Child Pub would inspire another couple of blog posts.
- Paris – I know, it’s a bit cliché, but I’ve never been to Paris and would imagine that visiting this remarkable city and its iconic sights would get the creative juices flowing.
- The Serengeti – I’m not sure if I could get WiFi, but I would love to write a post and would be happy to use pen and paper if I got to see the sun rise over the Serengeti.
- New York – I love the energy and vitality of the city that never sleeps and it would be a dream come true to sit in Central Park with my laptop and write a post that’s been inspired by a day roaming around this great city.
- Rio de Janeiro – To sit at the base of the Christ the Redeemer statue and write what I feel would be an unforgettable moment for me.
- Pitlochry – Pitlochry is a small town in the South East of Scotland. The photo that I use at the top of this website was taken on a walk that Karen and I took there almost 9 years ago. It’s a gorgeous part of the world that has fond memories for me.
- Venice – See Paris.
- Fiji – OK, I’m not fussy, any Pacific Island will do. I just need to be careful not to get sand in my laptop.
- Base Camp at Everest – I don’t have any aspirations to climb Everest, although I have massive admiration for those who do. However, I would love to visit the Himalayas and see the great peak in person. That would definitely inspire some thoughts.
- Jerusalem – A visit to the Holy Land would be a fantastic opportunity and one that I would find personally inspiring. To see sites that I’ve read about in the Bible would get the creative juices flowing and I’m sure would give me more than few ideas.
I suspect that there will be a few years before I start making progress against this list, but it’s something to dream about and start working towards.
If you’re a blogger, where in the world would you like to write a post from?
Alternatively, do you have any suggestions to add to my list?

I’ve never thought about blogging from a different country. I would love to visit lots of different places and meet amazing people. One of my goals in life is to have a good friend on every continent. So far, I have lots of friends in North America (1/7). Its a start. 🙂
