Many years ago, Tony Campolo heard Marshall Shepherd Snr preach an amazing message that repeated the line, “It’s Friday… but Sunday’s Coming!” over and over again.

Campolo has gone on to make the message famous all around the world and his version is incredibly inspiring.

As Easter approached, I was reminded of this message and the hope it gives, so here’s my version.

On the original Good Friday, Jesus’ disciples were devastated by the horrific death of their teacher, but thankfully, even though they didn’t know it at the time, Sunday was coming.

You too may be devastated by grief.

It’s Friday… but Sunday’s coming!

You may feel down and depressed about life.

It’s Friday… but Sunday’s coming!

You may feel trapped by your present circumstances.

It’s Friday… but Sunday’s coming!

You may feel condemned by your past.

It’s Friday… but Sunday’s coming!

You may feel lost and alone.

It’s Friday… but Sunday’s coming!

You may feel as though God has forsaken you.

It’s Friday… but Sunday’s coming!

On Good Friday, we remember Jesus’ crucifixion.

It’s the ultimate act of love and sacrifice and one which gives every person the opportunity to be reconciled to God despite our shortcomings.

On Easter Sunday, we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.

It’s the ultimate act of conquering power and authority and one which gives us the ability to overcome our circumstances and turn pain into glory.

Because today may be Friday… but Sunday’s coming!
