It can be tempting sometimes to give up.

You may have been struggling away with little sign of progress or recognition.

Perhaps you have come across a seemingly massive obstacle that you can’t see a way over (or through or around).

It may be that you just don’t have the motivation or energy that you once had.

Before you give up, remember:

  • The reason why you are doing it in the first place.
  • On their death-beds, more people regret what they didn’t do, than what they did.
  • “The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment before the miracle happens.” Rick Godwin
  • The people around you are watching (especially your kids) and you have a unique opportunity to either inspire them or leave them disillusioned.
  • The strength, resilience and lessons learned from the struggle to succeed are just as important as the success itself.
  • It took Thomas Edison hundreds of failed experiments to invent the light bulb and James Dyson over 5000 prototypes to invent his famous vacuum cleaner.
  • The Three Feet from Gold story.
  • Giving up because something too hard, isn’t a good enough reason.  Giving up because you have another, more beneficial project that’s more aligned with your goals, is.
  • “We must all suffer from one of two pains, the pain of discipline and the pain of regret.”  Jim Rohn
  • There’s no chairlift to the summit of life, only a long, hard journey.  But the final view is worth it.
  • “If only” and “I wish” are two of the saddest statements that we can make in life.
  • The long-term benefits of your reaching your goals always outweigh the short-term benefits of giving up.
  • The power of persistence is one of the most important characteristics of successful people.
  • One focused effort could be all that you need to get the breakthrough that you are looking and praying for.

So before you give up, now or in the future, read through this list and decide again to keep going.

Are there any other reasons that you can think of to encourage others (and perhaps yourself) to never give up?
