The mayfly is a unique type of insect.
In its adult stage it feeds, flies around, finds a mate, lays its eggs and then dies.
All in one day!
Some species of mayfly have an adult stage that lasts as little as 30 minutes, yet it still manages to fit everything in without running out of time.
Yet we waste time on Facebook, try to look busy without doing much, hesitate before taking action and try to survive our much longer life-span without doing much of significance.
Too often, we find ways to avoid doing what we know we should, instead of embracing every day as an opportunity to do all that we can.
I suspect that we can learn a lot from our little friend who lives life to the fullest in the short time that he has here.
Let’s aim to do the same.
Let’s make the most of every day!

Hi Darren I stumbled across your blog and found it to have many insights. However I at a stage of life with career where I am totally confused and doubt myself on everything including my skills. I am being laid off and seriously considering any job that gives me an offer as I am afraid of not finding anything in New York as a non financial Business Analyst, I do have savings and can afford to go awhile. I pray but feel God is distant. Is there somewhere you can point me in the right direction?

Hi Patrick, thanks for sharing your situation. Whilst I generally advise people to make career decisions based on aspiration rather than desperation, I also understand that sometimes our circumstances require us to take a job just so that we can put food on the table. If you take a job offer that isn’t ideal, that doesn’t mean that you can’t continue to apply for jobs that you really want. As for your prayers, please be assured that God is listening and is closer than you may be aware. I’m reminded of Jeremiah 29:11-12 as a promise which I pray is relevant to your situation. I hope that this helps. Please be assured of the prayers of the entire BLC Community. God bless, Darren
